OUR HILLS
The low Langa is a series of hills, of soft slopes covered with vineyards and where imposing medieval fortresses stand: precious treasures scattered throughout the territory that make it one of the most beautiful places in the world.
And the Langhe is also heaven for the most demanding palates!Each product that you will meet during this wine and food esperience is excellent: protected and guaranteed by severe regulations in order to protect quality, genuineness and to ensure a constant high standard over time...Have a good trip!!!
THE HISTORY
Of ancient origin, it is named after the castle that rose on the top of the hill and which was conquered in 1028 by the soldiers sent by the archbishop of Milan to stifle the Cathar heresy that had spread throughout the country.The inhabitants were captured and taken to Milan where there were burned on the stake.The stronghold of Monforte was left uninhabited for many years and that induced that poet Giovanni Berchet to write: “Nobody comes from Monforte, nobody goes to Monforte”.And still today, according to the tradition, it seems to be animated by ghosts and moans and wails can be heard.
